What Is ClimaSense?
ClimaSense™ is a workplace heat stress monitoring platform by Full Blast Labs Inc. The free mobile app gives you a powerful humidex calculator, AI-powered thermostat scanner, clothing adjustment tool, and CCOHS heat stress safety reference — all without creating an account.
The app is available on Android and iOS. No sign-up required for the free features.
Humidex Calculator
The calculator uses the official OHCOW (Occupational Health Clinics for Ontario Workers) formula to compute the humidex — a "feels like" temperature that combines air temperature and humidity into a single value.
How to use it
- Slide the Temperature slider to set the current air temperature (°C).
- Slide the Humidity slider to set the relative humidity (%).
- The gauge instantly shows the calculated humidex and the corresponding CCOHS danger level.
The gauge colour changes based on severity — green for comfortable, yellow for caution, orange for danger, and red for extreme danger.
AI Thermostat Scanner
Instead of reading your thermostat and manually entering values, you can use the built-in AI-powered camera scanner to read temperature and humidity directly from a photo.
How to use it
- Tap the camera icon (📷) next to the severity pill on the calculator screen.
- Take a photo of your thermostat, hygrometer, or any display showing temperature and/or humidity.
- The AI analyzes the image and extracts the readings.
- Review the results in the popup — it shows detected temperature, humidity, and a confidence level.
- Tap Apply to load the values into the calculator, or Cancel to discard.
Tips for best results
- Ensure the display is clearly visible and well-lit.
- Avoid glare, reflections, or obstructions on the screen.
- Hold the camera steady and close enough to read the digits.
- The scanner works with digital and analog displays.
The confidence indicator tells you how certain the AI is about the reading: High means very reliable, Medium means double-check the values, and Low/None means the image was unclear — try again with a better photo.
Clothing Adjustment
Protective clothing traps heat and increases the effective humidex your body experiences. The clothing adjustment feature accounts for this by adding an offset to the calculated humidex based on what you're wearing — following OHCOW guidelines.
How to use it
- Tap the shirt icon (👕) on the left side of the calculator screen.
- Select your current clothing type from the list.
- The calculator automatically adjusts the humidex with the appropriate offset.
- The adjustment is shown below the gauge (e.g., "Adjusted for: Coveralls (+3)").
Clothing types and offsets
| Clothing Type | Offset |
|---|---|
| Regular Work Clothes | 0 |
| SMS Polypropylene Coveralls | +1 |
| Cotton/Poly-Cotton Coveralls | +3 |
| Polyolefin (Tyvek-style) Coveralls | +3 |
| Double-Layer Clothing | +5 |
| Fire-Resistant (FR) Clothing | +5 |
| Vapor-Barrier Coveralls | +11 |
| Encapsulating Suit (Hazmat) | +12 |
Smart daily prompt
If you've previously selected a non-default clothing type, the app will prompt you once per day to confirm or change your selection. After 7 days of history, it learns your patterns and suggests your usual clothing for that day of the week.
Your clothing preference is stored locally on your device — it is never sent to any server.
Heat Stress Safety Zones
The Heat Stress tab shows the seven CCOHS (Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety) humidex-based danger zones used for workplace heat stress assessment. Each zone includes the humidex range, severity level, and recommended workplace action.
| Humidex | Level | Action |
|---|---|---|
| < 25 | Comfortable | Normal activity — no action needed |
| 25 – 29 | Noticeable | Stay hydrated, normal precautions |
| 30 – 34 | Some Discomfort | Increase hydration, post heat notices |
| 35 – 39 | Discomfort | Monitor workers closely, increase breaks |
| 40 – 45 | Great Discomfort | Enforce mandatory work-rest cycles |
| 46 – 53 | Dangerous | Cease all unnecessary physical exertion |
| ≥ 54 | Heat Stroke Danger | Evacuate immediately — life-threatening |
These guidelines are based on the OHCOW humidex-based heat stress assessment method, widely adopted across Canadian workplaces and referenced by Ontario's OHSA regulations.
About Tab
The About tab provides an overview of the full ClimaSense platform — wireless sensors, automated alerts, analytics, compliance reporting, and multi-facility support. It also explains how the system works (sensors → gateway → cloud → alerts) and lists the industries we serve.
From the About tab, existing customers can sign in to access the paid features (dashboard, alerts, settings). The app supports biometric login (fingerprint/face) for returning users.
Privacy & Data
The free calculator performs all calculations locally on your device. No temperature, humidity, or humidex data is sent to any server. Your clothing preference is stored locally using on-device storage and is never transmitted.
The AI thermostat scanner sends the photo to our secure cloud API for analysis. The image is processed in real-time and is not stored after the response is returned.
